Sometimes you're full of energy, focused and ready to get through the big jobs. Other days, your concentration is nowhere to be found and remembering to answer one email feels like a reasonable achievement.
That's why we didn't design the Glitch & Glow Day Planner around the assumption that every hour of your day is equally productive.
Instead, it's built around energy, attention and momentum, giving you the flexibility to decide what makes sense for you today, rather than forcing your day into a series of fixed time slots.
The different sections are designed to help you get things out of your head, work out where to begin and make use of whatever energy you've got available.
Things That Matter Today
Start with the things that genuinely need your attention. Keeping your key priorities separate from everything else helps prevent your to-do list becoming an overwhelming wall of jobs.
Larger Task Overview
Got something big hanging over you? Put it here. Seeing a larger task on paper can make it feel more manageable and gives you somewhere to capture it before deciding when and how you're going to tackle it.
Break Them Down Here
Big tasks can be difficult to start when the first step isn't obvious. Break them into smaller actions so you have something concrete to work on rather than one enormous job staring back at you.
Small Tasks & Quick Wins
Not everything needs maximum concentration. When you're low on energy or struggling to focus, this section gives you somewhere to find those smaller jobs that you can still get done. A few quick wins can also help get you moving again.
Timebound Commitments
Some things really do happen at a particular time. Meetings, appointments, calls and deadlines have their own space, so you can keep track of them without turning the whole day into a timetable.
Notes
For everything else your brain decides is important enough to interrupt you with. Ideas, reminders, information, random thoughts and anything else you don't want rattling around in your head.
Today's Achievements
At the end of the day, take a moment to recognise what you actually did. Productivity isn't measured solely by how much is still left to do, and it's surprisingly easy to forget everything you managed to accomplish.
Things For Tomorrow
If tomorrow's jobs are already occupying your thoughts, put them here. Give your brain permission to stop thinking about them for now.
Water Intake
A small reminder to look after the person doing all this planning. Because sometimes the answer really is: drink some water.
We all have those moments.
You lose your train of thought. You become overwhelmed. You can't work out what to do next. Or somehow you've spent half an hour doing everything except the thing you sat down to do.
The Reset Strip is there for exactly those moments.
REGULATE
Slow things down. Try a breathing exercise, grab some water or get up and move around. A physical reset can sometimes help create the space for a mental one.
CLEAR
Reduce the mental clutter. Tidy your workspace, try a thought-reframing exercise or practise a little gratitude — whatever helps you clear some space to think.
RESTART
Don't worry about fixing the whole day. Find the smallest next step. Switch to something easier if necessary, or try a short time-based sprint — even two minutes can be enough to get some momentum going.
The aim isn't to make you magically productive. It's to give you a way back in when you've lost your way.
Because your planner probably doesn't need to live on the same device that's constantly trying to get your attention.
Your phone and computer are useful. They're also full of notifications, emails, messages, social media, tabs, alerts and other opportunities to suddenly discover that you've been researching something completely unrelated for 25 minutes.
The Day Planner is deliberately offline.
Leave it on your desk and your plan is visible without having to open anything, dismiss anything or resist the temptation to check something else.
It's a physical reminder of what you're doing today — and a place to capture what's going on in your head without adding another screen to the mix.
This isn't about trying to cram every available minute with productivity.
It's about giving yourself a clearer picture of what matters, matching tasks to the energy and attention you have available, and making it easier to start again when the day inevitably takes an unexpected turn.
